There is a control element in the work of every leader or speaker. But many people have no idea how to convey their thoughts to the audience and influence the mood of the crowd. I suggest you consider the 5 basic rules of successful speech, which will help even if you have never spoken in public.
1. Influencing one person is more effective than influencing a crowd.
Prepare the ground for your public appearance by conducting individual negotiations with people who are loyal to you, but at the same time will be part of your audience. Enlist their support. This is especially true in cases where you have to deliver some unpleasant news. It will be much easier to communicate with a crowd if there are people in it who obviously support you.
2. You need to start your speech with good news.
Remember Machiavelli's rule: every change paves the way for other changes. This means that if you want to announce an innovation, you should start by mentioning the pleasant, albeit small, advantages. People should understand that all reforms are aimed at their own good. For example, if you want everyone to go to work on a day off, don't start your speech by directly announcing it. It's better to first tell us about those interesting changes that will make work more comfortable – office modernization, installation of air conditioners, new amenities, and then get to the point. 3. People need to understand why changes are being made.
Always explain why certain innovations are needed. This will help not only to calm down, but also to motivate people. To make it easier, during your speech, contact those whose support you have secured in advance. 4. It is better to pronounce a speech in your own words.
Do not read the text on a piece of paper and do not memorize it. You need to speak for yourself, even if a little tongue-tied or haltingly. Don't be afraid to appear slightly unprepared. The main thing is that your speech should be as sincere and understandable as possible to people.
5. You can't become an enemy of the audience.
If there is a person in the audience who will speak out against you, do not start arguing with them and prove your case. It is better to recognize the right to have a different opinion and remind people of the advantages that accompany your decision.
